For any kind of fire protection system, our water tanks can be part of the solution

The need for reliable, cost-effective water storage for fire protection systems is rapidly growing. Fiberglass tanks offer numerous material and design advantages. For a start, a lightweight fiberglass tank is delivered as a single-unit tank, making it easy to ship and install. A Xerxes fire protection water tank can be used for either primary or secondary water supplies. They can provide water for either sprinkler systems or dry-hydrant connections, giving fire trucks quick access to emergency water supplies.

Municipalities and developers often install our tanks at sites far from municipal water supplies or where there is insufficient volume or pressure to supply suction pumps. Where development is growing faster than the municipal water supply system, many rural and suburban fire regulatory agencies mandate a fire protection water tank.

Xerxes tanks meet – or exceed – industry standards

Several NFPA standards address the growing need for standby water for fire protection systems and Xerxes tanks meet or exceed them all.

  • NFPA 22 –Water Tanks for Private Fire Protection
  • NFPA 20 – Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection
  • NFPA 1142 –Water Supplies for Suburban and Rural Fire Fighting
  • NSFANSI/CAN 61 – Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects

Why choose a Xerxes fire protection water tank?

  • Watertight, testable model
  • Capacities from 600 to 60,000 gallons
  • Designed to withstand H-20 / HS-20 axle loads
  • Underground installation optimizes land use

Success Stories

retirement community

Retirement Complex - Virginia, US

Tight footprint? Pedestrian traffic? No problem – we get a tank where it needs to be.

When they expanded their facility, a retirement community in Virginia realized they needed to supplement their site’s water supply. Low pressure in the municipal water supply meant they couldn’t achieve the volume they needed fast enough for the property’s sprinkler system to work to the required volume. The existing buildings, including a 15-story building at the site, could have made for a tricky installation. In fact, their first instinct was they had no option but to install several small tanks. However, a Xerxes distributor showed them that one large 48,000-gallon Xerxes tank could not only easily meet the requirement but could actually be “walked’ with the aid of dollies to the tank excavation site. This project proved once again that no matter the site, our tanks can be easily installed with minimal or no disruption to a site or community.

Housing Development - Appalachian Mountains, US

Remote locations? Winding roads? No problem for Xerxes fire protection tanks.

Homeowners in a recreational housing development in the Appalachian mountains chose the area for its idyllic remoteness. They quickly realized they needed to address the downside of the location: being at least 30 minutes away from the nearest source of water for fire protection. Two Ashton Woods homeowners who were also professional firefighters recommended installation of several Xerxes tanks in strategic locations for emergency water supplies. A key element in this choice was that lightweight fiberglass tanks are easy to transport to sites that have narrow, winding roads.
